To lift something upwards. To make it assume a higher position than before.

That is what we are doing for strength training. Lyfta is a small, independent team building the tools we always wanted for our own training: rigorous, fast, and honest about what works. We are in this for the long run.

Three ideas guide most of the decisions we make, from the science behind a program to the pixels on a rest-timer screen.

Science before opinion

Every recommendation in Lyfta is grounded in training research, not fitness trends. Our founder holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology and has spent years coaching at the elite level.

Built for the gym floor

Most of our users open the app mid-set, with chalked hands and ninety seconds of rest. We design and test for that reality first, and everything else follows.

Made to compound

Lyfta is built to be used for years, not months. That shapes how we design programs, how we write the code, and how we treat the people who trust us with their training.

The team

Lyfta was started by two brothers: a scientist and an engineer, both lifters.

Kolbjørn brings a PhD in Exercise Physiology and years of elite coaching experience to the product. His commitment to scientific rigor shapes every training decision inside the app.

Kjell Roar Lindberg

Co-founder and CTO.

Kjell leads engineering at Lyfta, combining a background in computer science and cyber security with his experience as a certified personal trainer. He keeps the product both fast and trustworthy.
